BERLIN — A major attraction — the Rave X Freestyle Show — has been added to the roster of events on Saturday, Aug. 2, in the middle of the 5th annual three-day Jericho ATV Festival scheduled from Friday, Aug. 1, to Sunday, Aug. 3, thanks to a very substantial donation from Bob Chapman, owner-operator of Chapman Scrap Metal & Recycling of Berlin, Milan, and Gorham.

The Festival is a joint venture of the Androscoggin Valley ATV Club and the Androscoggin Valley Chamber of Commerce.  “It’s a dream come true!” exclaimed Chamber executive coordinator Paula Kinney on Friday afternoon, May 30, at a press conference held at Floral Designs by Raegan.

“For this event we are planning on bringing a freestyle dirtbiker and quad rider,” Rave e-mailed Kinney. “These riders will be performing stunts about 20 feet in the air and landing on a steel mobile landing. This landing is designed to travel down the road and across the country and be set up at numerous events.

“Some of the tricks that you will see are named superman, cordova, seatgrab, hart attack, double grab, stripper and shaolin.”

“The Rave event will not only attract visitors who own and ride ATVs and other OHRVs, but also draw more spectators who are looking for a way to enjoy the Festival and its great venue without riding themselves,” Kinney said. “It will increase the number of people who will want to come to Berlin and the Androscoggin Valley for this annual event, now in its fifth year.”

Rave riders will likely put on several shows on Saturday, that also include “give-aways” and some “meet-and-greet” sessions in which OHRV enthusiasts can collect autographs, Kinney explained.

Holding Friday’s press conference at Floral Designs recognized the key role that Raegan Burlock played in getting Bob Chapman of Milan interested in making an $8,000 donation to cover the full cost of bringing the South Portland, Me., team to the Jericho ATV Festival. A complete and detailed schedule for the three-day Festival will be released in July.

Four manufacturers are participating in this year’s ATV Festival: Polaris, which will bring in its just-released new models in on a double trailer; Can-Am; Arctic Cat; and Yamaha.
