At their Monday evening meeting, the Stewartstown board of selectmen opened up a portion of Diamond Pond Road, from Roy Road to the boat launch, for snowmobiling.

Selectman Allen Coats said that it is a state road, but the town's winter maintenance grants the authority to allow snowmobile traffic. He said opening the road, a proposal which the Colebrook Ski-Bees presented to the board, will keep sleds off the pond. "It's a lot more safe than what it was," he said. "It sounded logical and safe, and we did it."

Harry Brown of the Metallak ATV Club said that at the same meeting, that club asked for permission to allow ATVs to use a 3/4-mile portion of Bear Rock Road from the Colebrook town line to the area of Heath Road and Noyes Road. A public hearing will be held for that proposal at 7 p.m. on January 30.
